Acne Removal

Regardless of race and location acne problems may have become part of your life.  According to facts, almost all teen-agers from twelve to seventeen have acne problems.  Acne most likely will last for five to ten years and disappears when the teen reaches their early twenties; however, there are cases that last until the age 40.  Avoiding greasy foods will not exempt you from having acne.  In fact, studies show that most acne sufferers deal with break outs with over-the-counter treatments. However, 40% of adolescents have a severe type of acne that needs the utmost attention of a physician.  Having acne problems can cause low self-esteem, seclusion, and even depression.

The term acne is used for clogged pores.  It includes blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and bumps that appear on face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms.  Acne if not taken care of properly will lead to severe scarring and can affect young men and women.  People spend money each year buying special soaps and cleansers to treat their acne.  Although there is no exact treatment for acne, it is always best to visit a dermatologist or ask the advice of your physician.  Acne is actually a disease in the skin gland that produces an oily substance and can be caused physical changes externally and internally in body tissue.

Acne can be classified as mild, moderate, moderately severe, and severe.  Mild acne is blackheads, whiteheads and pustules (dome-shaped lesions containing pus typically containing white blood cells, dead skin cells and bacteria). You should wash the area with warm water and mild soap two times a day to remove excess oil.  Remove dead skin cells by using gentle exfoliant.  Do not squeeze this mild acne as it may make it worse.  Essential oils are also best for this kind of acne.  Tea Tree oil is the most effective acne removal treatment among the various types essential oils because it has anti bacterial properties.  It also reduces itchiness, inflammation, and contains healing properties.  Rosewood oils are used for oily skin as it limits the secretion of oil in our skin glands. Its aroma adds rejuvenation of the skin.  Never use rosewood for dry skin as it may cause more damage.  Just like rosewood oil, bergamot provides rejuvenation. However excessive use of this oil is not recommended.  It should be used in low concentration and should be blended with other oils.  Lavender oil, as advised by experts, should be diluted first and has a soothing effect that reduces itching and neutralizes redness.  A highly effective oil that can destroy acne is clove oil.  It is not only good for acne, but also for scars and blemishes caused by acne.  Never use this oil in high concentration as it may cause a burning sensation.

A dermatologist is recommended if acne is in moderate to moderately severe stage.  Light Therapy can be used to reduce lesions.  Scars can develop especially in moderately severe acne.  Oral antibiotics prescribed by a doctor are highly needed.  Essential oils can still help, but make sure to ask your dermatologist before using them.  Severe acne that has become inflamed, excessive skin damage and scarring have occurred, may need drainage and surgical excision, such as acne surgery.  Dermatologists may also inject diluted corticosteroids to treat inflammation and prevent scarring.  A potent drug reserve for severe acne, that has proven itself, is Isotretinoin, a synthetic retinoid that comes in the form of pill.  It is usually taken once or twice daily, and so far has become one of the most effective ways of treating acne.
